Germán Suárez-Béjar , born in 1984 in Atizapán de Zaragoza, State of Mexico, is a multidisciplinary artist whose work encompasses sculpture , painting , engraving and design . His professional training stands out for its technical and artistic approach, which makes him a versatile creator with a deep aesthetic sensibility. He graduated as an Engineer in Wood Technology and completed a Master's degree in Wood Science and Technology at the UMSNH, integrating his knowledge in the handling of materials into his artistic development. Later, he decided to delve deeper into art by studying Art and Design at ENES Morelia, UNAM, which allowed him to perfect his creative vision and technical mastery.
From an early age, Suárez-Béjar displayed a fascination for drawing and visual creation, honing his skills in ceramics , leather and wood pyrography , and various marquetry and intarsia techniques. His career as a sculptor was consolidated in León, Guanajuato, where he worked with renowned artists such as Ricardo Motilla , learning the techniques of bronze casting and specializing in this medium. In 2019, Suárez-Béjar expanded his artistic horizons by traveling to Spain, where he learned the ceramic cascarilla method for producing bronze sculptures, collaborating with renowned artists such as María José Zanón and David Vila .
Her most recent work, GIVEN TIME , marks a milestone in her career. In this solo exhibition, Suárez-Béjar explores expressionist portraiture , integrating sculptural elements into her painting through the use of dense impasto and figuration that captures deeply contained emotions. Through dramatic gestures , vibrant colors, and tactile textures , her pieces convey a personal quest to capture the essence of the human soul in every glance and gesture.
For the past six years, Suárez-Béjar has maintained a constant artistic activity, participating in numerous national and international group exhibitions , standing out for his ability to combine traditional technique with a highly expressive contemporary style. In 2023, he was awarded the Golden Seed at the Second Artistic and Literary Meeting of San Miguel de Allende, consolidating his presence in the Mexican contemporary art scene.
Currently based in León, Guanajuato, Germán Suárez-Béjar works hand in hand with the prominent gallery owner and historian Álvaro Gómez Gómez , focusing on the production of art that not only reflects his life experience, but also a constant search to explore the connection between art and human emotions. His pieces, ranging from bronze sculpture to expressionist painting, are imbued with a visual richness that invites the viewer to a profound and introspective experience.
