Collection: HUMANUM

The Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí, through its Secretariat for Cultural Diffusion, presents HUMANUM, a group exhibition that brings together prominent visual artists who embrace the human figure and make it the central theme of their works. The exhibition consists primarily of paintings—more than 60 canvases in various sizes and techniques—as well as some small-format sculptures created by more than 30 artists from Mexico, Chile, Cuba, and Colombia. The works are the result of the unique vision of their creators; each piece reflects their passions and invites the viewer to reflect on our own nature and its infinite possibilities. The artists that make up this edition are: Andrés Alarcón, Andrés Fidel, Angie Vega, Carlos Cortés, Carlos Larracilla, César Plascencia, Dan Montellano, Diego Ayala, Eden Mir, Elena Manero, Emmanuel Huerta Casillas, Enrique Morett, Felipe Cifuentes, German Suárez-Béjar, Granna, Homero Regla Melkart, Jorge de la Cruz, José Luis Malo, José Parra, Juan Pablo Zamora, Mer Rodríguez, Miguel Alejandro, Miguel Casco, Nidia González, Ofelia Andrades Madariaga, Patricia Sánchez Saiffe, Paulina Goca, Paulina Jaimes, Rocio Caballero, Rocio Coffeen, Salvador Santana, Sergio Garval, Sofia Martin Soledad and Yoel Díaz Gálvez. HUMANUM emphasizes painting as a current conceptual discipline, articulated as a platform for contemporary figurative art, highlighting its role as a tool of thought. This exhibition is a revision and update of previous editions that have been presented with great success in important cultural venues across the country, such as the Museo Iconográfico del Quijote in Guanajuato, the Museo de la Ciudad de León, and the Museo Metropolitano de Monterrey. Now, with more than half of the works previously unpublished, it is being presented at the Caja Real Cultural Center, thanks to a collaboration with Álvaro Gómez Gómez Galeria.
